2019 Applications to the Halls Island Artist Residency are now closed.

We plan to open the application process again late in 2019 with deadlines early in 2020 for the 2020 season of residencies.

We invite applications from artists who are looking for a secluded place in which to reflect and refine their artistic discipline(s). Applicants must demonstrate a focus on their art form and be comfortable with rustic, off-grid living conditions. Individuals who engage in all forms of artistic expression are eligible to apply. Please note that limited solar power and absence of WiFi limits the kinds of arts activities that Halls Island can support.

As you will have noted from our website, this is a water access only residency. Getting to Halls Island requires climbing in and out of a boat, as well as up and down stairs from the dock to the living quarters. This setting may not be accessible for those with mobility issues. Please contact us with any questions regarding accessibility.

The selection committee will review all applications, extending invitations to selected artists. Halls Island Artist Residency will contact applicants who have been chosen for review and follow-up. Once each residency date is filled, unsuccessful applicants will be informed. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

Deadlines: NA

The residency is intended to support the artist alone but feel free to query us with any special circumstances or requests. We'll do our best to accommodate, if possible. If you hope to be in residence with another compatible artist, each artist should submit a separate application with a note advising of the intended partner artist.

A $10.00 administration fee is required to complete your application. This fee is non-refundable and is used to help with our administrative costs. Please contact Halls Island Artist Residency for a possible waiver if this fee prevents you from applying.

Note: If you are experiencing difficulty using this form on a phone or iPad, please try again on a computer. We are attempting to resolve this issue.

Please use the Paypal feature above to pay your $10.00 non-refundable Application Fee.
